rssHugger: Increase RSS Subscribers?

Let me start this post off by saying that I have NOT used rssHugger yet. If you’re interested in hearing what it is keep reading. But if not then this post isn’t for you. Normally I wouldn’t make a post about something I haven’t tried but in this case I had to. You’ll have to keep reading to find out why.
rssHugger is an RSS directory. It was created to help blogger promote their blogs.
The way it works is after you get your account all set up you are listed in their directory in a few categories. But what makes this directory different is that there is also a top 100 list. The feeds are ranked by whoever sends the most traffic to rssHugger and it is reset each month.
For instance, if you were to join today and you send the most traffic to RSS Hugger this month you’d be listed as #1 on the list. Theoretically, with all this traffic coming everybody should be able to get new subscribers (I haven’t tried it yet so I can’t back that up).
The reason why I haven’t tried it yet is because before you get listed in the directory you have to either make a blog post about rssHugger or pay $20 to be included. Obviously I chose the first. So this is my blog post.
They set it up that way to keep spammers out and so it has a viral effect. Whether it works out the way they’ve planned or not I don’t know. But it only took a few minutes to set up so I figured why not? If this sounds interesting to you (or if you just want to give me a little boost :)) check out rssHugger.

Personally, I didn’t get much luck with rssHugger. The fact that it’s reset every month is helpful but for a tiny blog like mine it didn’t work wonders.

Thanks the feedback Viraj. I tried to find some reviews of it before I joined but I couldn’t find any.
Let me know how that goes. I would love to know. As soon as I figure that entre card stuff out, I may even look into RSS Hugger.
Will do. Right now I’m no where near the top of the list so I really can’t say anything about that. But at the beginning of February I’m gonna try to send as much traffic as I can to see if it’s really worth it to be up top. I’ll make a post about it to let you know.
I was thinking of joining up with this site. I keep reading about it and how good it is. I may have to try it and see. I have a feeling though I won’t be giving them enough traffic to get into that top 100 list.
I really don’t know yet because I’m pretty far from the top (39th on the list). But it only takes like 5 minutes to sign up and another 5 to make a post about it. And you get a couple more links back to your site so I would say go for it.
But I’m going to make another post about it right after they reset the rankings to try to get to the top and see if it really does send a lot of readers.
This sounds like an extremely interesting site that I haven’t yet heard of, but something I’d love to try out. Thanks for the information! Great post.
Thanks Erica
I made an account on rsshugger. They did a good job with the template and stuff, but it doesn’t look like it’ll be worth anything except for a link to your site. I don’t think very many people go on the site to look for other RSS feeds, what do you think, do you think it will grow?
I’d say that it probably won’t send that much traffic to the average person. I just checked google analytics and it’s only showing 3 visitors. But I think it’s worth joining just for the link.
The people up at the top are sending a lot of traffic to rssHugger though. I can’t see them doing that unless they are getting traffic in return. I’m just curious how much they are getting.
Aaron, do you know of any other RSS promoting tools?
Having read most of the comments here, I am not sure how to really move forward with this becuase it seems that most of the comments are not negative but also not forthcoming.
Give me some feedback
