Traffic Experiment Results: 308 Visitors In 6 Days

For the past 6 days I have been doing a traffic experiment. I’m very pleased with the results so far. My blog received 308 new visitors. My RSS readership increased. I’ve been getting more comments on my blog. And I have advertisements that will be running on 20 other blogs over the next few days.

Where Is All This Traffic Coming From?

You’ve may noticed that small advertisement over in my sidebar. It’s and advertisement for some other blogs.

It’s for people who are part of Entrecard. Entrecard is a place were blog owners exchange business card like thing called entrecards.

This is the way it works. You visit blogs in the network and you get one credit for each card that you drop their site. You also get one credit for each card that someone drops on your site. Then you use those credits to buy adds on other peoples blogs (like the one on here).

Are You Making These 3 Common Article Marketing Mistakes?

Some people say article marketing doesn’t work anymore. Which that might be true if you just write crap and expect people to love you for it. If you do it correctly it still works and could be one of your most powerful promotion strategies. Here are three common article marketing mistakes.

1. Confusing the reason for writing articles with the reason for promoting your business with articles.

There are several reasons for promoting your business with articles but their is only one reason for writing articles.

First lets talk about reasons for promoting your business with articles. Articles drive traffic to your website. They also position you as an expert in whatever field you are writing about. Now those are great and all but it should not be your focus for writing an article. Then why write articles?

Little Known Ways to Linkbait Like an SEO Pro

Building backlinks can be a real pain. Why not just build a useful resource that people will naturally link to? That’s the whole concept behind linkbaiting.

A good piece of linkbait will have a great title, good content, nice formatting and some social media traffic to get the ball rolling. Andy Hagan’s Ultimate Guide to Linkbaiting and SMM is a great resource that shows you exactly how to do this.

In the article he gives you 10 headline templates, 8 different hooks to use, 3 tips for formatting your content and 5 different social media sites you should use to start spreading the word. The article itself is a great example of linkbait. Check it out here.

Here’s a Quick Way to Really Get Someones Attention

How can you get someone you don’t know to pay attention to you? You can call them on the phone (if you can find their number) or even just email them. But what are the chances that they are going to they’re going to listen to you when:

a) they don’t know who you are
b) you want them to do something for you, yet you’ve never done anything for them

There is a much more effective and easier what to do it. Why not just send them a trackback?

Gina Gaudio-Garaves goes in detail about this technique in her article “How can you get someone important to notice you?“.

How I Got A Link From A Site That Gets 206,350 Monthly/Visits 1 Day After Starting A Brand New Blog

Yesterday I was reading JamesBrausch.com and I noticed he had a link to my site on his blog. James has a PR 5 website. I have a PR 0. James’s site has been online for 22 months. Mine only 1 day. James gets 206,350 monthly visits to his website. I haven’t had this site long enough to even know. So how in the world did I “convince” James to give me a link?

I must have called James on the phone and asked him to give me hand launching this site, right? Wrong.

I’ve never met James. And I’ve never even spoken with James. So how could I have done it?

Well I must at least have had his magical email address. Nope… Not yet anyway.

It’s actually much simpler than that. All I did was link to him.

Are You Being Controversial Or Just Being A Jerk?

If you want to have a successful online business you need to be controversial. Controversy does bring in the money. But only if you do it right!

If you are being controversial just for the sake of being controversial chances are you’re just being a jerk. Going around saying this sucks/that sucks/etc. with nothing to back it up is just going to turn people off.

On the other hand if you take a stand on an issue and you can back it up that’s a different issue. If you whole heartedly believe in what you are saying and you have reasons why, that’s being controversial. For more on this topic check out That’s Not Controversy…THIS Is Controversy.

Increase Unique Visitors By 50 Percent Immediately

Recently I was reading an interesting article titled “Secrets of the A-Listers”. The article is about how the author, Lynn Terry, was able to increase her unique visitors by 50 percent almost instantly.

She found some research done by Tristan Louis that studied the frequency and length of posts done by the top five bloggers.

Lynn mentions that…

…the top five bloggers created an average of 30 entries per day, with each entry being under 150 words.

So she tested it out herself and found out that…

…blogging 4-6x/day (versus maybe 1 post/day) increased unique visitors by ~50% almost immediately.

Making 4-6 posts a day may sound a bit overwhelming. But if you take into consideration that the average entry size is under 150 words it’s not all that time consuming.
