No Man of Her Own came out in 1950. Pompous drama based on Cornell Woolrich storyline of Helen Ferguson (Stanwyck) assuming another’s identity and becoming part of a fmaily. Later in the movie she is being blackmailed by her ex-boyfriend. Cast includes Barbara Stanwyck, John Lund, Jane Cowl, Phyllis Thaxter, and Richard Denning.

The Believer is a brutal evaluation of a young Jewish man in N.Y.C. who decides to become a neo-Nazi skinhead. He struggles with the contradiction between his values and his heritage. Gosling gives a stellar performance as the young Jewish man which is loosely based on a true story. Cast includes Ryan Gosling, Summer Phoenix, Billy Zane, Theresa Russell, Glenn Fitzgerald and Ronald Guttman. (98 minutes, 2002)

Happy Gilmore, hockey player Happy Gilmore finds his slap shot power translates into 400 yard plus drives in golf. Needing money to help his grandma save her house, he is going to try pro golf. His putting is as bad as his driving is good, so he has a lot to learn. Overcoming all odds, Happy wins the tour championship and now can save grandma’s house.

The Sinister Urge from 1960. Loyal cops Duncan and Moore set out to bash the “smut film racket,” which is run by a loud blonde. Illustrates with complete certainty how photos of plump ladies clad in just their underwear can be a principal cause of adolescent delinquency. Cast includes Kenne Duncan, Duke Moore, Carl Anthony, Jean Fontaine, Dino Fantini, and Jeanne Willardson.

Sugar Town - Engaging mosaic of LA life characterizing a handful of characters whose lives dovetail - a musician aspirant who’ll do anything to get ahead, an uptight lone lady who allures the inappropriate men like a magnet, and a band made up of cleaned-up ’80s rock stars, to name a few. Made on a shoestring, although sharp and well recognized; superb cast contains a number of real life musicians. Cast includes Ally Sheedy, Rosanna Arquette, John Taylor, Jade Gordon, Michael Des Barres, Lucinda Jenney, and Martin Kemp.
