Traffic Experiment Results: 308 Visitors In 6 Days

For the past 6 days I have been doing a traffic experiment. I’m very pleased with the results so far. My blog received 308 new visitors. My RSS readership increased. I’ve been getting more comments on my blog. And I have advertisements that will be running on 20 other blogs over the next few days.
Where Is All This Traffic Coming From?
You’ve may noticed that small advertisement over in my sidebar. It’s and advertisement for some other blogs.
It’s for people who are part of Entrecard. Entrecard is a place were blog owners exchange business card like thing called entrecards.
This is the way it works. You visit blogs in the network and you get one credit for each card that you drop their site. You also get one credit for each card that someone drops on your site. Then you use those credits to buy adds on other peoples blogs (like the one on here).
You’re probably thinking that it probably has a high bounce rate if all you have to do is drop a card. And you’d be right. It has a very high bounce rate actually.
Why Even Waste Your Time Then?
If most people are like me they at least look at the headline of a site they are visiting. And if it looks interesting then stop and read the page.
I admit I don’t always do that. Sometimes I get in a zone where nothing is going to get my attention. But that’s not always the case.
I’ve had more comments and more RSS readers since joining. So that backs-up my theory as well.
But It Does Require Some Work
If you want to get visitors you have to actively go out and drop your card on other peoples blogs. But if you’re not getting a lot of traffic yet it’s worth it.
And it’s a great place to network with other bloggers. I’ve found quite a few really good blogs that I wouldn’t have known about otherwise.

It was difficult at first to see whether or not Entrecard was going to be a winner, cos so many card droppers literally race through blogs, without stopping en route to read or comment.
My site now has increased traffic - the Alexa ranking has sky rocketed - and generally the blog has ‘come alive’. So I’m a happy bunny;-D
Adding Entrecard to your site will bring about roughly 50 visitors a day to your site. If you have a visually appealing site and good content, you could turn the visitors in to regular readers.
I have added a few blogs from the sites that I have passed through on Entrecard to my RSS reader.
I think gaining regular readers are the ultimate goal of most users on Entrecard.
Hey there, thanks for the link love - keep at it, Entrecard is just great for most people. And I’m really glad to hear you’re getting some action from it even if it some portion of it is chaindropping - it’s still interesting to see what we can do to attract them or retain some of it.

Sam: I think ultimately it comes down to the quality of your content. If you can write great headlines you’re eventually going to get their attention. If your content is good they’ll remember that the next time they visit and maybe even sign-up for your RSS feed.
Something else that I’ve notice is that posts with interesting pictures in them have been grabbing my attention more than posts without pictures. So I’ll be adding some pictures to my posts in the future.

I signed up and have seen some increase in traffic and yet some do just bounce around. For the business blog - traffic is not as good, but for my Pencil Sketch Art Blog, I have gotten a lot more traffic.
It’s easy to set up for any one as well. If you have a new blog, IMO it is worth it!
A good post about Entrecard, you do need to work at it to get readers, and visitors as long as you keep your content fresh and interesting. I have added loads and dropped cards, on my very first day!
good post about entrecard. It has been doing wonders for me with the amount of traffic I have gotten via them. I believe it could be better though.
